Verizon iPhone 7 Plus CONSTANTLY dropping to 3G, 1X, NO SERVICE

Ever since I got my iPhone 7 Plus I am constantly dropping to 3G, 1X, or even No Service. My wife has an iPhone 6s Plus and every time this happens I ask her to look at her phone and she always has LTE and several more "bars" than me.

I even had Verizon replace my SIM card. My friend has this issue too with his iPhone 7 Plus.

Is there an issue with this phone and being able to hold on to signal?

I am in Central, NJ on Verizon Wireless.

There are several lengthy threads about this issue (I subscribe to the ones at the Verizon Wireless and MacRumors forums). Replacement of the iPhone 7/7+ or the Verizon sim card does not solve the issue. Supposedly Verizon and Apple are working on a solution. (Supposedly some of the newer Apple iOS betas seem to help the issue.)

What you can do as a temporary fix is go to Settings/Cellular/Cellular Data Options/Enable LTE and switch to Data only - that seems to solve the issue BUT you can no longer use calls and data at the same time.

Supposedly this has something to do with switching cell towers on Verizon that either have or don't have the Advanced LTE capability.

This issue has retuned with the iOS 10.2.1 update. Everything was fine after 10.0.3 and subsequent updates, until this current update. Take the same route to work every day. Previously would have 1x in the parking garage, once on the street would immediately switch to 3G, get near/on the expressway and it would lock on to LTE and stay for 45 minute drive. After 10.2.1, stays on 1x all the way to work. 5 bars of 1x most of the way, not that useful. Toggle on/off airplane mode and it connects on LTE. Anyone else seeing the same thing?

I am in Afghanistan but my phone is out of Maryland. I just received an iPhone 6S and it keeps dropping the 3G data and won't reconnect automatically. I have been on the phone and emailed IT for days and literally all they can say is it must be the coverage area. Prior to the iPhone I had an Android with same carrier (Verizon) and never one time lost data connectivity. The only way to get the 3G back is to go to airplane mode and then turn it off. Sadly this is only a temporary fix and I lose the 3G within a few minutes. This is getting beyond frustrating as I do not have the time to keep messing with this phone. I am on roaming and have turned off the CDMA (as told to by Verizon) but the stupid phone still won't reconnect to the 3G data automatically. Anyone else having this issue at all? Can someone help me come up with a solution or a possible work around? Thank you so much for any help you can possibly provide me.

The AppleCare Carpe Facto team reached out after my January 28 post. Got them all the information and diagnostic logs they requested today and they sent it off to Engineering. Hopefully will see a fix soon.

One new wrinkle I noticed over the weekend. Instead of getting stuck at 1x where I know I should gave LTE service, I got no service and then 5 bars of nothing; no 3G, no LTE, no 1x, no service, just 5 bars of blank.

Did you ever find a solution? My son's 6 was replaced with a reconditioned phone under warranty and sitting next to me he will have half or more bars and say LTE but basically no data throughput. It will load the YouTube app and thumbnails, but just spins on showing a video. Netflix will open and let you pick a movie and go to the play screen and just sit there and spin.

We updated the carrier settings and hard booted the phone several times to no avail. The Verizon store told him it was the phone and not them.

I Have the most updated 10.1 and my iPhone 7 plus on Verizon still has issues with the signal. my iPhone drops the lte signal almost every time I am using the waze navigation. Finally I have gone in settings, cellular, cellular data options, enable data options and selected "data only". This has solved the dropped signal issue.
